Do travel agents charge? Yes, travel agents and advisors are compensated for their time, expertise and the resources they deploy on your behalf. Brownell travel advisors charge planning fees, a model much like architects, interior designers and financial planners utilize. Average travel agent commissions are nominal and fees allow travel advisors the freedom to invest time and great care in your departure. Fees range from $25 for simple hotel bookings, to upwards of $250 per week based on the intricacy of the itinerary, length of travel and number of passengers. Please note, the planning fee is custom to each client and departure and is up to the discretion of the travel advisor. Very often, clients find that they more than make up the planning fee in the discounts, food and beverage credits, extra amenities and value-adds that Brownell travel advisors are able to offer.

Working in the travel industry, people frequently confide in me that they have always dreamt of traveling the world for a living. For most, it’s a fleeting dream during a moment of hatred at their current jobs, something they would never actually figure out a way to do. But for others, the dream is real and more importantly, they have the drive to make it happen. One way to do it is to become a luxury travel advisor and they come from all business sectors: law, finance, beauty, fashion, media, education, and more. It is a job that Oprah featured as one of the “happiest jobs in America.”

Going DIY, the flights alone for the same dates were around £115/person – add a hotel and it pushes the cost per person to around £250. Plus with a package, you get ATOL protection (see below for what this means).

Small and cosy hotel with a personal touch. Not just like all other hotels, due to the good idea with the book theme. Nice, comfortable room with all the facilities you need, clean and newly renovated. Quiet location, very close to Gewandhaus and Stadtmitte, and 100 m from Mendelssohn Haus. The breakfast was huge and delicious, and with al types of healthy products as well - and several newspapers. Friendly and helpful staff.
